Daniel had been running teams into the ground all season but Friday night it was a different story as the Lions held on to a 7 point win. Daniel started the game strong going into halftime 35-14 but after a slow third quarter by the Lions and a strong beginning of the fourth by Palmetto, Daniel found themselves in a one-score game. Tyler Venables threw for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns while adding one on the ground. Josiah Benson turned in a terrific special teams performance, taking the opening kickoff to the house for the Lions. Another positive sign for the Lions was the return of Jaheim Lawson, who notched a sack and totaled four tackles. However, the Lions will need to cut back on the penalty yards as they’ve averaged 113 penalty yards over the last three games. They will face one of their toughest tests of the season next week as they travel to Wren (5-1). Wren is on a 5 game win streak outscoring their opponents 327 to 45 in that span. The theme is American night and kickoff is set for 7:30.
** Due to construction on a new Wren Middle School, parking will be limited around the stadium. Wren officials are encouraging spectators to park at Wren High and Wren Middle for the game.
