The Lady Lions defended their crown as state champions. The Lions played fantastic all tournament, taking a 31 shot lead into day two and growing it to win by 52. The Lions were led by Jennifer Gao and Peyton O’Brien shooting 78 and 79 respectively. Courtney Collins and Adrienne O’Brien also counted on day 1 shooting 81 and 83. Their team score was 321, their lowest of the season to date. That held for a whopping one day as they followed their 321 with a 317. Unlike day one, which was played under perfect conditions, day 2 was an on and off drizzle all day. Peyton O’Brien and Courtney Collins lit up the scoreboard posting a 73 and a 75. That was a personal best for both Peyton and Courtney. Adrienne turned in an 80 and both Sarah Whitfield and Jennifer came in with 88s. Four Lady Lions placed in the top 10, which was good enough for them to make the all-state team. Peyton came in 4th, as an eighth-grader I might add, Courtney in 5th, Adrienne in 8th, and Jennifer in 10th. The Lady Lions will attempt a three-peat next season, with four out of their top six returning. Peyton, Courtney, Sarah, and Ally Garmon will return for next season. Meanwhile, Adrienne and Jennifer go out as state champions for one last time.
