On a rainy night, when the offense struggled, the defense came up big in the win vs. Westwood, stopping Westwood on a goal-line stand with under a minute remaining. Hack Hamilton also had his second four-touchdown game of the season. It was a back and forth affair in the first half. Hack returned the opening kick to put the Lions up 7-0. Westwood came right back with a touchdown of their own and a two-point conversion to go up 8-7. Hack then had a 45-yard touchdown off a screen to put the Lions up 14-8. Westwood scored again but this time failed the two-point conversion to tie it at 14. Hack gets his third touchdown of the game on a 31-yard touchdown. It was a beautiful throw as Tyler Venables dropped it in perfectly to hit Hack in stride for the walk-in touchdown. In the second quarter, Westwood scored and went up 22-21. Diandre Bradley had a pick, which led to another Hack touchdown to put the Lions up 27-22 going into halftime. In the second half, both defenses stepped it up as both teams were shut out to preserve a Lions win. Westwood was marching down the field as time was winding down but the Lions held at the goal-line as Jared Kirksey sacked the quarterback on 4th and 3 to win the ballgame. Overall, the defense forced two interceptions, stopped a fake punt, and recovered a fumble along with the goal-line stand. The Lions will host Ridge View, Thursday, November 21 at 7:00. Daniel played Ridge View earlier in the season and beat them 45-26. However, Ridge View has gone 7-1 since their loss to Daniel. They also pulled off an upset last week beating AC Flora on the road 28-15. The winner of that game will take on the winner or Wren vs. Greenville.
